Slaton City Library

Your Library Card

Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.

Who can get a card

Anyone can get a Slaton City Library card as long as they can provide a current address with proof of driver's license or social security card.  Children age 5 and over can get their own card with their parent present.

How to Get Your Card

Visit the library during library hours and pick up an application.  We will input your information into our system and issue you your card.

Borrowing Limits

Two items may be checked out on your first visit to the library and up to 10 items on a card after that.

Reserving An Item

Any item can be reserved by calling or coming into the library.  Your name will be added to the list of reserves and you will be called when the item is available.  You have two days from the time of notification to pick up the item. If the item is not picked up we will call the next person on the list and your name will stay on the list and you will be called at a later time.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Items may be reserved in person, via email or over the phone and will be renewed for another term depending on item being renewed.  If an item is on reserve, you will not be able to recheck that item.

Library Fines

There is a 3 day grace period where items are not fined. After that the fine is 15 cents a day per book with a maximum of $5.00 per item.

Lost Items

Items that are lost will be billed at the cost of the book and recorded on the patrons record.  Borrowing privileges will be suspended until all fines and charges are paid.
